Very nice pictures!
I didn´t expect "Mertensiella" so early, altough their breeding season starts normally at the end of January/beginning of February.
By the way, I have some doubts about the occurence of H. gemonensis (first record Broggi 1994; Herpetozoa) on Karpathos. This species is restricted to west Aegean islands and Crete. All those islands were not in contact with the minor asian plate in former times. Could be a passive introduction by man or misidentification with a young D. caspius.

Where was the habitat picture of Rana cerigensis taken?
I found similar habitats on the way to Makrya Pounta, east of Olimbos. But by the time all riverbeds were dry and even lizards were hiding during the day.....i was there in August 1999 where we had temperatures more than 42°C.

Simi, send me a personal message - I'd rather not reveal the site publically.
Hannes, I tend to agree with you on the gemonensis issue.
